WATER OPERATOR
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
The Village of Roselle, Illinois (population 22,897) seeks a full-time Water Operator within the Public Works Department The position performs manual, semi-skilled and skilled tasks, technical and physical work in the operation, construction, maintenance, repair and installation of Village water system facilities including the emergency back-up well, booster station, pressure adjustment stations, water storage facilities, the water distribution system, fire hydrants, water meter system and system’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). This position is responsible for the operation of excavation equipment, other specialized equipment and related tools and machinery.
The ideal candidate would possess: A high school diploma (GED or equivalent), a current and valid Illinois motor vehicle operator's license with a CDL endorsement (or capable of acquiring CDL within six months), minimum of three years in the public works and/or construction industry or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience. Desired possession of at least a Class D Water Operator’s License (as issued or recognized by the Illinois EPA), or receipt of one within twelve (12) months of commencing employment or transfer into position.
This position is responsible for working approximately forty hours (40) each week with occasional overtime and weekend assignments. The salary range is $60,969 to $81,866 and the starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. This position, which is a member of Operating Engineers, Local 150 union, receives comprehensive benefits including paid time off, pension, and health and life insurance.
