ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor position is hands-on and multi-faceted. Candidates must have experience working in a Shipping and Receiving Office in a warehouse environment with minimal supervision, be able to work flexible hours, and have demonstrated attention to detail. Identifies work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. This is a general merchandise warehouse and 3PL facility.
· Follow all safety guidelines and participate as fully-empowered team member to achieve organization-wide goal of zero incidents.
· Issues written and oral instructions.
· Examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
· Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of workers.
· Maintains harmony among workers and resolves disputes.
· Ensures correct shipment of orders, and receipt of inbound loads.
· Monitors Customer Service Representatives’ (CSRs) productivity.
· Assists employees with work process problems
· Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
· Maintains time, and Shipping and Receiving records.
· Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
· Ensures all Shipping and Receiving procedures are followed and maintained.
· Schedules all deliveries and pick-ups with outside carriers and trucking companies
· Actively participates in the facility’s continuous improvement program. Suggests and implements initiatives that improve the department’s safety service level, cost, and productivity.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Directly supervises up to 15 warehouse (Shipping and Receiving) employees in his/her area of responsibility.
· Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
· Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing customer complaints and resolving problems.
· Inbound/Outbound paperwork integrity, including BOLs, internal filing, MHE maintenance schedules, personnel schedules and planning, etc.
· Maintain inventory controls and utilize WMS - computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, typing, handheld computers/scanners) a must.
· Direct engagement with drivers: full-truck load, LTL, bobtail, etc.
· FedEx, UPS, USPS shipping knowledge preferred
