Warehouse Manager / Supervisor

Overview:
Drive Intermodal, is looking for an experienced warehouse manager to assist in setting up a new warehouse for our new operation in Houston TX that will direct shipping, receiving, and warehousing operations. This will initially be a hands on role as we ramp up operations.

Your Responsibilities:

Your duties would include the responsibility for ensuring the efficient and effective handling of all warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, and materials management. You will also be responsible for providing leadership, training, and staff development to all new warehouse employees while focusing on departmental objectives such as customer satisfaction, profitability, and building an effective operation.

• Responsible for ensuring that productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly.

• Need to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and perform your duties in a manner that maximizes profits.

• Be dedicated, competent, and have strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

• Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.

• Willingness to work in the warehouse, unloading and loading trucks, scheduling appointments, inventory, and assisting wherever needed.

• Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing safety and monitoring security procedures and protocols.

• Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.

• Maintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; ensuring efficient space utilization; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.

• Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security.

• Maintain warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

• Produce reports and statistics regularly.

• Experience in small, start-up organizations helpful

• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English fluently. Spanish fluency is a plus.

Your Qualifications:

• Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree in International Business, Logistics or Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Finance or related discipline or equivalent combination of work experience and education, preferred.

• Minimum four years related experience; Minimum three years of industry experience, preferred. Minimum one year of supervisory or management experience. Proven knowledge and experience in dock operations.

• Credentials: Valid state issued Driver's License; Forklift Driver Certification. Ability to drive and or operate a forklift, hand truck and pallet jack.

• Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific WMS software applications.

• Characteristics: Ability to plan work for self and others to ensure work is completed efficiently. Effectively participates in and/or supervises department projects related to assigned area of responsibility along with strong decision making and problem-solving skills with a strong sense of urgency in completing tasks. You have excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. Ability and willingness to work a flexible Full Time schedule that may include weekends and holidays.

• Ability to work in extreme conditions to include, but not limited to, elements, heat, cold, and air particulate

• Repetitively adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts of varying lengths

• The employee is frequently required to sit, talk hear, walk and use hands to handle, feel and reach

• Forklift operator is required to sit for long periods of time

• The noise level in the work environment is dependent on location

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (eye protection, ear protection is mandatory at several locations, safety shoes)

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision and color vision.

• Must have a good sense of balance & good eye-hand-foot coordination

• May be required to lift pallets by hand, each weighing between 50 lbs. to 75 lbs.
