Warehouse Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: To manage warehouse activity and staff, meeting defined objectives and day-to-day operational requirements, and manage the inventory systems. To identify and exploit improvement opportunities on an ongoing basis.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: (not intended to be all inclusive)

• To ensure the smooth running of the warehouse
• Maintain and enhance effective working relationships with staff.
• Contribute to the identification, evaluation and where appropriate implementation, of improvement initiatives within the warehouse.
• Ensure staff work to the processes and procedures relating to the warehouse operation.
• Recruitment of warehouse staff as required.
• Setting staff performance levels, providing feedback on achievement and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Create and implement best practice warehousing principles, policies and processes.
• Ensure that health and safety meet the required standards and that risk assessments are carried out.
• Provides excellent service to internal and external customers in receiving, processing and distributing merchandise and supplies to stores
• Supervises day-to-day activities of subordinates
• Complies with delivery schedules; accurately, timely, and efficiently processes deliveries
• Utilizes computer to manage accurate inventory for warehouse operations
• Identifies damaged and expired products
• Assists in all maintenance responsibilities and activities established by the warehouse
• Maintains fixtures and equipment storage
• Assists with bin location upkeep and the physical inventory process
• Assists with ticketing according to branch standards for accuracy and timeliness.
• Reviews in-coming orders and advise Corporate Headquarters of errors and questions and assist in resolutions when appropriate.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, lift packages.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience: Minimum 3 year’s experience in a distribution environment.

• Supply Chain/Logistics experience preferred
• 2-5 years of managerial experience in a retail/warehouse environment
• Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with subordinates.
• Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions
• Requires a valid driver's license and meet company requirements for Safe Driving record

Provides strategic leadership and direction for a fast moving, customer-focused distribution center to enable growth and profitability

Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations, cost factors, and customer service

Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate problems and improve quality

Solves problems related to operations to minimize costs and delay

Ensures that all employees follow best operations and safety practices daily by maintaining a safe and secure work environment.

Communicates with other key leaders to ensure proper material and product handling, maintenance, accounting, and inventory control activities and procedures

Builds High Performance teams by recruiting, training, and developing subordinates as well as setting expectations and goals that align with Strategic Plan and Operations' strategy

Ensure the completion and maintenance of all required paperwork, records and documentation.

Ability to work with Microsoft Office, to work with your department’s business applications and with standard current computer applications.
