This position will support dining services within Hoffman SummerWood.

POSITION SUMMARY

Wait staff job duties include:

Providing a high level of customer service, waiting on assigned tables, taking orders, ensuring the residents receive what is on their menu, running food, pre-bussing, resetting tables and completing all side work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Attendance: Demonstrates a responsibility to report to work as scheduled. Willingly accepts changes in daily routines due to staffing shortages and emergencies. Required to cover staffing shortages. Adheres to company attendance policy; follows calling out/tardiness protocol. Uses time constructively and perform duties in a responsible manner. Reports to work during inclement weather. Requests time off according to established policies.

Responsibilities: Waiting on tables, taking orders, ensuring the residents receive what’s on their menu, running food, pre-bussing, resetting tables. Responsible for completing all side work; including checking out with team lead before leaving the shift. Ensuring residents with special needs are taken care of. Full hands in and full hands out. Staying proactive and helping the team.

Confidentiality: Assures and maintains an appropriate level of confidentiality.

Cell Phone Policy: Adheres to company cell phone policy. Personal cell phones are not allowed during work hours.

Competency: Completes annual competency criteria as required by organizational standards DPH regulations.

Customer Service: Is responsive to the dining needs and requests of the residents.

Attire: Adheres to the established dress code and wears name badge while on the clock. Always represents Hoffman Summerwood. Attire should be clean and wrinkle free, with non-slip black shoes and black professional pants.

Food Handling: Adheres to all sanitation, safe food handling and health code protocols.

Infection Control: Adheres to company infection control.

Growth and Development: Attends staff meetings as assigned. Attends/completes all required in-services.

Interpersonal Relationships: Demonstrates an ability to cooperate and work effectively with others; includes personal courtesy, tactfulness and consideration to others. Effectively participates in resolving conflicts. Adheres to professional boundaries with residents and staff.

Kosher Dietary Laws: Has a working knowledge of all kosher procedures.

Miscellaneous: Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Improvement Program: Participates in the Performance Improvement Programs as directed, i.e. Dining Room surveys.

Environmental Safety: Uses proper safety techniques and complies with all organizational safety procedures. Utilizes proper protective equipment when needed. Reports and medical concerns or changes in resident health to the Dining Room Manager promptly.

Serving Residents: Serves meals to the members and guests. Takes orders for the members and guests. Assists in the meal selections if diners’ are unable to read or understand the menu selections. Develops awareness of member’s food and beverages likes and dislikes. Serves beverage of choice to each diner. Clears the dinner table when dinner is finished and as needed throughout dinner. Keeps water glasses filled. Cleans off tables at the end of meals and other events and sets tables for the next meal. Performs daily side-work as assigned. Performs work in a calm manner in order to maintain a pleasant dining atmosphere.

Teamwork: Demonstrates an understanding of the effect of individual job responsibilities to co-workers as well as other departments.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Requires standing throughout the shift, walking, bending, lifting and carrying items as part of a normal workday. Possible exposure to infections, hot work environment and handling hot food items.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Must possess good communication skills.
  • Must be a detailed oriented person and be able to perform duties with great accuracy each day.
  • Must have full understanding of dining room operational procedures and etiquette.
  • Must have the ability to complete work in a timely manner and meet all deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to relate appropriately with staff, members and families and have a positive customer service approach to meeting various needs.
  • The ability to read and write and communicate in an effective manner.
  • Ability to answer phone calls and communicate requests as needed.
