WE ARE TRADITIONAL:

A progressive company with offices in downtown Los Angeles, California that has extensive experience in all areas of the legal cannabis industry. We have developed world-class facilities and vertically integrated businesses for the production, manufacturing, distribution, and sale of cannabis.

Position Overview:

The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and reporting all essential functions of Retail sales operations. The Sales Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the work activities and resources necessary for stocking, displaying, and selling all cannabis products under our standard operating procedures. This position leads the retail sales team, from hiring to training to departmental disciplinary functions. The Sales Manager facilitates the flow of necessary information concerning the retail sales department to the company’s Executive Leadership. The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for creating a safe work environment and ensuring all products are properly packaged and handled to the company standards and the specifications of the city of Los Angeles, the State of California, and METRC.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: This position oversees all retail sales associates

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This may not include all duties assigned)

General Duties (Not Exhaustive of all Duties)

  • Drive customer visit goals and increase the number of returning customers; maximize store sales through effective planning, execution, and brand awareness.
  • Review and interpret financial and operational reporting, including store visit and audit results.
  • Identify underperforming metrics and develop strategies that leverage company programs, tools, and resources to improve and grow the business.
  • Exceed the customers’ expectations by implementing and delivering exceptional service standards and training the staff to deliver the same service.
  • Schedule and coordinate Sales Associate efforts to manage the store’s day-to-day operations and drive sales.
  • Meet or exceed goals related to total store sales, profitability, and operational excellence.
  • Forecast and adjust payroll to maximize productivity, achieve sales & payroll goals, and complete workload.
  • Ensure compliance with cannabis regulations, including METRC.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and discharge retail sales staff.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of current and emerging regulatory requirements in Cannabis Retail.
  • Coordinate routine cycle counts for inventory control on the sales floor.
  • Maintain the strictest confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Adhere to and enforce company Standard Operating Procedures.

Daily Tasks: (Not Exhaustive of all Tasks)

  • Review sales floor schedules and production orders to decide inventory levels, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments while considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems.
  • Analyze sales data, inventory levels, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports to detect opportunities for improvement.
  • Reconcile cash register counts and ensure complete recording of sales and accurate cash handling.
  • Address customer complaints and resolve discrepancies to restore confidence in our company.
  • Ensure settlement of credit card transactions and process refunds.
  • Resolve departmental personnel grievances.
  • Prepare and maintain sales reports and personnel records to internal standards.
  • Manage all software systems used by retail sales staff, troubleshoot METRC and other software systems.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the Compliance Manager to ensure all sales activities meet company, local, and state requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to ensure that all personnel and customers are safe and company property is secure.
  • Keep the sales floor area and offices organized to maintain a functional work environment.
  • Work with team members to develop, learn, and implement new systems.

Technology and Other Requirements:

  • Must be highly functional on a modern PC.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel, 2015 or newer.
  • Able to type 50 WPM or faster.
  • Proficiency with G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive), security, and sharing knowledge.
  • Able to convert documents to PDF format, troubleshoot document resolution issues.
  • Familiarity with network printing, scanning, driver installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Must be smartphone fluent.
  • Must have a clear understanding of internet research standards and protocols.
  • Support the mission and spirit of the organization and be comfortable with cannabis.
  • Be patient, proactive, positive, and a team player.
  • Self-starting with solid follow-through and multitasking capabilities.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and challenging workload.
  • Must interact effectively with all levels of management and staff, internally and externally.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree or better.
  • Five years of Retail management experience.
  • Minimum of one year of cannabis retail experience.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs as described.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background check.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

  • Current, valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Reliable vehicle and insurance.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:

  • Full-time, salary exempt position.
  • Salary is $68,000-$90,000 DOE.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work may require prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate a computer, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing. Requires close vision with the ability to see color and adjust focus. Lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly using smart lifting techniques.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is high-energy, fast-paced, and, due to the nature of the current regulatory landscape, often highly stressful. Position requires regular availability to work Monday through Sunday from 9 am to 11 pm, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.
