Summary:

Responsible for all long-range financial matters and establish company-wide financial and administrative objectives, policies, programs, and practices, which insures the company of a continuously sound financial structure. Direct the company’s accounting practices as well as relationships with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to the following:

1. Establishes and executes programs for the provision of the capital required by the business, including negotiating procurement of capital and maintaining the required financial arrangements. Coordinates the long-range plans of the company, and assesses the financial requirements.

2. Oversee and direct audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, insurance activities, and funds, securities and assets of the company.

3. Directs the Controller and subordinate staff in providing procedures and computer application systems needed to maintain proper records and adequate accounting controls and services.

4. Responsible for the financial aspects of real-estate and property transactions, and executes bids, contracts and leases.

5. Maintain adequate sources for the company’s current borrowings from commercial banks and other lending institutions. Invests the company’s funds as appropriate.

6. Appraise the company’s financial position and issue periodic reports on financial stability, liquidity, and growth. Direct and coordinate the establishment of budget programs.

7. Analyze, consolidate and direct all cost accounting procedures, tax reporting programs, and investor relations. Oversee the preparation and issuance of the annual report.

8. Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements; analyze operational issues impacting functional groups to determine financial impact. Prepare and/or manage the company’s tax filing reporting requirements.

9. Develop, implement, and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for financial accounting and reporting, and other corporate policies as required.

10. Analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the company’s policies and operations.

11. Mentor and support accounting team to improve and streamline accounting processes and procedures.

12. Control the flow of cash through the company and maintain the integrity of funds, securities, and other valuable documents.

13. Perform other duties as required or assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises the Controller and the Business Intelligence team, and indirectly supervises the accounting department staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree, and 7-10 years senior-level accounting/finance management experience, preferably in property management/real-estate, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree and CPA preferred. Supervisory experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel spreadsheets or related accounting software. Yardi experience a plus. Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP. Strong conceptual and analytical skills, in addition to sound organizational skills. Proficient in planning and organizing tasks, managing priorities, and utilizing available resources to complete tasks within strict deadlines. Possession of exceptional interpersonal skills needed to effectively interact with different groups of people.
