Department Overview
Finance’s vision is to build and sustain leading finance capabilities to support PG&E’s vision. The Energy Accounting is fundamental to ensure proper recovery from its customers. The team engages with various coworkers throughout the PG&E to understand their respective programs and ensure proper tracking of incurred costs in line with what is authorized per the regulatory commissions.
Position Summary
Oversees the regulatory accounting functions for PG&E Utility. Ensures the delivery of accurate and timely financial data to support strategic decision making and compliance with financial reporting requirements.
The role is classified as hybrid (0-3 days per week in office), working primarily from your remote office and in-person in the Oakland General Office to attend team meetings or as business needs require.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $126,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $200,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Assists in development of research objectives, approach design and analysis on impacting accounting issues.
- Develops and assists in setup of processes, procedures and other improvement efficiencies.
- Drives performance by setting goals and development plans, conducting performance reviews and providing ongoing feedback to direct reports.
- Evaluates and facilitates the resolution of accounting issues.
- Identifies and implements process improvements at the department level (e.g., efficiencies gained by aligning work streams). Manages and contributes to the department and company projects initiatives to improve processes and understands / translates financial impacts.
- Interprets data, reports and records for managers/stakeholders.
- Manages month-end closing process (journal entries and variance analysis).
- Manages process improvement projects to reduce risk and create efficiencies.
- Oversees preparation of supporting documentation for SEC and regulatory filings.
- Prepares and communicates high-level balance sheet and income statement variance analysis with management/senior management team.
- Reviews and interprets policies, reporting requirements, rules and regulations.
- Works with senior management to support strategic planning and decision making.
- Works with Directors and Manager across functions to influence decisions and ensure stakeholder engagement in cross-functional processes.
- Implementation accounting and ongoing guidance for regulatory directives provided regulatory commissions.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- 7 years of relevant accounting experience
- Management experience with an ability to manage staff and programs.
Desired:
- 10 years of relevant experience
- Experience in consulting with employees at all-levels
- CPA-Certified Public Accountant certification
