The Volunteer Center is located within the Office of Civic Engagement. The Center promotes and advances civic engagement and leadership through community service and volunteer programs for students, faculty, staff and community partners.
General Duties and Expectations:
- Coordinating and/or supporting community service programming such as - The Write Stuff, Stage Right Theater Program, Mentoring for Tomorrow, Pathways, Food Insecurity, Half-Times and others.
- Coordinating and/or supporting annual campus-wide service events such as the Days of Service, Boo Bash, National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week and more.
- Work collaboratively with peers on shared civic engagement programming that address challenges facing the MCLA or North Berkshire community. For example, this could include serving on a food insecurity committee and working with the MCLA food pantry, or a mentoring committee helping to connect local youth with college mentors.
- General knowledge of Volunteer Center programmatic goals and outcomes.
- Support Volunteer Center advancement and office operations.
- Communicate concisely and professionally with peers, MCLA Staff and community and campus partners.
- Attend community meetings relating to service as a representative of the Volunteer Center and MCLA.
- Create and maintain contact with community partners.
- Recruit MCLA student volunteers.
- Act as a role model to MCLA student volunteers and help them grow as student leaders.
- Work collaboratively with faculty/staff guest(s) to support programming.
Requirements:
- A passion for community service and community building.
- Ability or related experience in program development.
- An interest and competency in program development.
- Must be able to lead and supervise peers.
- Competency with Microsoft Office applications, Outlook 365, and social media platforms.
- Valid photo ID to allow for a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Indicator) check.
- Knowledge of on and off campus resources preferred or willing to learn.

This position is open only to students currently enrolled at MCLA.
