The Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance at Indiana University is seeking applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Acting/Directing for a full-time, two-year appointment to contribute to our vibrant theatre community and help shape the next generation of performing artists. Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following key areas of acting and directing: contemporary theatre, new play development, physical theatre/devised work, community activism in the arts, solo performance, improvisational theatre.
The ideal candidate is a passionate educator and practitioner, dedicated to pushing boundaries in live performance. Candidates should have a keen interest in developing new work and prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of contemporary professional theatre.
Position will develop and teach 5-6 courses each year at all levels of acting and directing, ranging from undergraduate to graduate with a focus on the latest trends and techniques in live performance. Position must actively contribute to the department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and collaborate with colleagues on departmental committees and initiatives. Position may have the opportunity to direct a production within the department's season, bringing their artistic vision and expertise to our stage.

Candidates must have a terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) in Theatre, Performance Studies, or a related field. Candidates must demonstrate expertise and experience in professional theatre with a strong portfolio in one or more of the key areas mentioned above. Proven ability to teach and inspire students at all levels with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming learning environment is required. Candidates should have an innovative and forward-thinking approach to theatre and performance.
