Vice President, R&D Business Development - Remote
Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
The Vice President of Business Development will be a critical part of Curia's global Research and Development division, reporting directly to the President of Research and Development. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing the commercial strategy, goals, actions, budgets and the formation of business partnerships for Curia's global Small Molecule and Biologics Drug Discovery, Chemical Development, Analytical Services and Clinical Manufacturing business units. The Vice President of Business Development will lead a team that will identify, develop, plan, and implement new sales generating opportunities and partnerships across Curia's R&D global portfolio.

Responsibilities
Partners actively with Senior Management and his/her counterparts in the global territories in strategic planning as well as business planning and development in order to maximize growth and business results
Hire, lead, manage, mentor and deploy a team of Business Development professionals globally. Develop and manage sales leading and lagging Key Performance Indicators, bookings targets and incentive compensation plans and goals
Create and implement a strategic sales plan for Curia's R&D organization spanning across the full product line offerings of Small Molecule and Biologics Drug Discovery, Chemical Development, Analytical Services and Clinical Manufacturing
Create strategic frameworks to analyze existing business and help evaluate new market opportunities. Work with Curia's Marketing & Strategy team to create a strategic marketing plan for the responsible business segment and execute the plan successfully
Create, drive and manage the strategic vision and associated activities for selected Strategic Key Accounts
Recruit, coach and develop diverse teams across the five R&D sub-business units to maximize their full potential, based on the needs of Curia
Provide strong leadership and tailored go to market strategies/tactics to direct sales team in the areas of new customer identification, negotiation and deal closing across diverse business segments
Lead the interface of the R&D organization with the operations functions of sales as well as legal, finance, and the technical operating and manufacturing departments. Partner to implement improvements to processes from quote to cash to benefit customer relationships and maximize Curia results
Help identify, cultivate and enter into specific licensing opportunities, as appropriate
Contribute directly and through subordinates to white papers, advertisements, marketing materials, the Company's website, social media and other forms of interfacing with potential customers
Demonstrate personal accountability and focused vision to achieve personal and team business, and revenue goals
Demonstrate the ability to plan, adapt and prioritize for results within a complex changing environment at both the individual and team levels
Develop analytical and marketplace knowledge of customers and competitors in self and others to strategically impact business outcomes
Continually assess and share essential business information and industry trends to predict and succeed within changing market conditions
Develop and maintain professional relationships at the highest level, internally and externally, to gain alignment and generate results for business initiatives
Effectively access the full potential of the sales team and take quick corrective actions when identified
Utilize strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills when negotiating contracts and/or bids for self or team
Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Master's level education and/or equivalent experience preferred
At least 10 years demonstrated professional selling experience with experience in CDMO industry
Proven track record of consistently exceeding corporate objectives and sales targets
Demonstrated history of professional and management growth at progressively more
responsible levels
Ability to influence and achieve desired outcomes
Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Willingness to travel
Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Pay Range: $196,000-$255,000/year
Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
