Job Description

The position is at a nonprofit. The Vice President, People will lead our Talent functional teams (Workforce, People Operations, Performance Management). You will develop and lead the execution of a vision for our long-term people strategy, including developing and executing people strategies that drive employee engagement, talent acquisition, retention, and organizational development for our 900+ full-time and part-time employees.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy that supports our mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
  • Lead a thriving People team to design and delivery of all aspects of the Talent function, including talent acquisition, employee onboarding, performance management, total rewards, employee relations, learning and development, and policies and procedures.
  • Scan and assess each talent practice area for business process improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organization.
  • Champion our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and ensure it is integrated into all aspects of the organization.
  • Partner with leaders to assess the optimal organizational structure and design to optimize performance.
  • Facilitate change management strategies and practices to ensure the successful implementation of organizational initiatives.
  • Operate skillfully as a peer coach and thought leader to the Leadership Team; cement the VP, People role as an enterprise-wide partner to the Executive Team.
  • Lead the Talent team as a player/coach, mentor, and thought partner to support career growth and development.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and company policies and proactively address talent risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience in a People function, with at least 5 years in a strategic role and proven experience leading large Talent initiatives, including experience with setting the vision and strategy and change management (required) at an enterprise level.
  • Experience leading teams, programs, and initiatives in a fully remote setting.
  • Prior strong experience managing staff and leading and developing a high-performing People team, fostering their professional growth and ensuring the function delivers exceptional service and support to the organization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills with staff at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to overcome barriers and meet goals, especially in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to critically assess challenges and identify flexible, effective solutions.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills allowing you to represent our leadership internally and externally effectively.
  • Comfort with reviewing complex data and using it to drive decisions and communication.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to ending education inequality.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are a plus.
  • Proficiency in various technical applications, including the MS Office Suite.

Pay: $151k to $226k annually

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $151,000.00 - $226,000.00 per year
