Located in Des Moines, Iowa, Orchard Place is a non-profit organization serving children with mental health issues and employing approximately 350 staff, and we are seeking a Vice President of Human Resources. The Orchard Place Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for developing and implementing strategic HR plans and policies to support the company’s mission and strategy. They collaborate with the management team, oversee HR operations, guide HR Team Members, ensure compliance with labor laws and analyze HR effectiveness. The Vice President of Human Resources reports directly to the CEO and are a member of the Orchard Place Senior Management Team.

The Vice President of Human Resources:
- Responsible for oversight of the Employee Experience throughout the employees’ time at Orchard Place, including recruitment and hire, onboarding, training, supervision, and evaluation.
- Produces reports with analysis of key factors to the CEO and Operating Board and play a crucial role in driving the long-term success of HR and the organization.
- Oversees and evaluates the employee compensation and benefits programs of Orchard Place including medical and dental programs, retirement plans, life insurance plan, long-term disability plan, etc.
- Ensures Orchard Place Personnel Policies and Procedures are current and that those policies and the accompanying practices are in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, accreditation standards and licensure.
- Hires, guides, and evaluates HR Team Members.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of all Orchard Place operations and responds to human resource needs of management and staff.
- Provides consultation and coaching to supervisors related to employee performance issues including development of supported learning plans and performance improvement plans. Creates disciplinary and termination documents and participates in these meetings with employee and supervisor.
- Leads the Orchard Place HR Committee and serves as a member of the OP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
- Provides excellent communication regarding human resource matters to all employees and board members as needed.
Position Requires:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
- 10 years of HR experience with 5 of those years in a leadership role
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification
- Extensive knowledge and experience supporting a culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Excellent communication, critical thinking and computer skills
- Experience in the non-profit field preferred
