Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Campus Operations at MIU plays a pivotal leadership role, overseeing the university's facilities and auxiliary services to ensure operational efficiency, sustainability, and the provision of top-tier campus environments. This position is responsible for strategic planning, implementation, and management of all Campus Operations, including academic, residential, and support services facilities, aiming for excellence in sustainability, student satisfaction, and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP AND OVERSIGHT
- Provide leadership and strategic oversight for the campus' physical infrastructure and auxiliary services, with a particular emphasis on data driven priority setting, resource deployment, and performance management, ensuring alignment with MIU's mission and strategic goals.
- This role oversees the Directors of Facilities Management and Auxiliary Services to ensure cohesive operation across all departments, including Facilities Management, Food Service, Housing/Mailroom, Recreation Center Facilities, Guest and Conference Center, Campus Safety, and University enterprises.
2. FACILITIES MANAGEMENT AND CAPITAL PROJECTS
- Ensure the maintenance, development, and improvement of Campus facilities, including sustainability initiatives and efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.
- Oversee major construction and renovation projects to enhance campus infrastructure, ensuring strong project management and oversight of all capital projects, delivering high-quality, on-time and on-budget results.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive crisis management and emergency response plans to effectively address potential threats and emergencies, ensuring the safety and security of Campus occupants, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to conduct regular risk assessments and drills, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing necessary enhancements to preparedness protocols.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Facilities Management teams during crisis situations, activating response teams and mobilizing resources to mitigate impacts and restore normal operations.
3. AUXILIARY SERVICES
- Oversee the management of auxiliary services to enhance student and staff experience, including dining services, bookstore operations, transportation, and housing.
4. TEAM LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT
- Foster a customer-centric culture characterized by transparency, accountability, morale-building, and a sense of shared purpose across all departments, promoting continuous improvement, efficiency, and collaboration within the team.
5. ORGANIZATIONAL AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Drive and guide interventions to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness, implementing best practices in project management and organizational workflows.
6. STAKE HOLDER ENGAGEMENT
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and understanding of Campus needs, fostering a culture of excellence, responsiveness and service orientation.
7. BUDGET & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
- Develop and manage the budget for Campus Operations, ensuring effective use of financial resources, including resource allocation, with a sharp focus on cost-effectiveness and financial sustainability.
- Monitor and report on budget variances, providing recommendations for corrective action.
- Ensure effective utilization of resources across all departments under their supervision.
8. CONTRACT AND VENDOR MANAGEMENT
Develop and implement strategies for effective contract and vendor management, ensuring favorable terms, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. Monitor vendor performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.Skill Requirements:

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required, master’s degree in business administration, Facilities Management, Logistics or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with an emphasis on cross-functional / multi-disciplinary team building, program and service development and implementation, quality improvement, process and outcomes measurement and reporting, standardization/reduction in variation, and excellence in customer service.
