Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, evaluate legislative strategies; negotiate solutions & mobilize resources to influence policy decisions
- Maintain current state of the industry and governmental policy awareness; create & manage systems for tracking key issues, information, documents; advise company leadership on critical and/or emerging issues and trends
- Champion stakeholders by coordinating federal and state-level advocacy and communication
- Educate legislators and policymakers on the industry scope and impact
- Monitor and respond to federal and state-level compounding legislation and regulation
- Draft testimony and position papers on state and federal policy issues as required
- Serve as a liaison to Federal Legislation and Regulation Committees and appointed task forces or working groups related to federal public policy
- Collaborate with communications staff to produce web content, policy updates, legislative alerts, position statements, and research reports
- Prepare and maintain information resources, briefing papers, and updates on legislative and public policy issues
- Supervise 1+ direct reports
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience in compounding, specialty and/or retail pharmacy settings required
- Deep understanding of pharmacy industry, including compounding pharmacy, outsourcing facilities, supply chain & regulatory environment
- Proven ability in navigating, guiding & influencing others on legislation, advocacy, and government policies
- Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate internally & externally
- Proven ability in conducting research, data analysis, drafting documents & incorporating feedback
- Strong ability in presenting initiatives, ability to convey the complex simply, to multiple audiences
- Existing government and/or related industry network(s) a plus
- Occasional travel required
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Healthcare Administration. Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (J.D.) highly preferred
Experience: Minimum 4+ years of related experience in progressively responsible roles, including at the Vice President (VP) level, in public policy advocacy, policy development, legislative advocacy, working with government agencies is required.
