Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a forward-looking strategy for technology operations and cybersecurity, ensuring alignment with Empower's mission and business objectives
  • Lead the strategic direction and operational management of critical IT infrastructure, including server/storage systems, network services, and key software solutions, ensuring their reliability and scalability
  • Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive IT security strategy that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements, playing a leading role in cybersecurity initiatives
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop robust mitigation strategies to protect against cyber threats, safeguarding sensitive information and IT infrastructure
  • Work closely with compliance and risk management teams to ensure IT practices support organizational security policies and are in compliance with relevant laws and standards
  • Champion the development and implementation of an IT Service Management (ITSM) framework, adhering to ITIL standards, to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency
  • Direct the maintenance and support of essential IT infrastructure, including WAN/LAN and cloud-based applications, to ensure high performance and reliability
  • Define and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance IT service delivery, driving continuous improvement through actionable insights
  • Oversee a diverse portfolio of IT projects, ensuring they align with strategic objectives, are executed timely, and resources are optimized
  • Collaborate closely with business units to drive technology enhancements that support the strategic expansion of pharmacy operations
  • Advocate for the standardization of IT processes and systems to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency
  • Foster a culture within the IT team that promotes innovation, collaboration, and professional growth, aligning with Empower's values
  • Conduct performance evaluations, offer constructive feedback, and contribute to team members' development, focusing on excellence and innovation
  • Forge and maintain strategic relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring access to advanced solutions and optimizing cost-effectiveness
  • Oversee talent management within the IT department, focusing on skill development, talent acquisition, and retention strategies to build a dynamic and adaptive workforce
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring the resilience of IT operations and minimal business disruption
  • Ensure IT operations adhere to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, establishing governance frameworks for informed decision-making
  • Enhance the IT support model to deliver user-centric services, employing service design principles for continuous improvement and meeting the needs of all stakeholders
  • Oversee the operational management of IT contractors, consultants, and vendors, ensuring the effective execution of business systems contracts
  • Undertake other duties as required, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to contributing strategically to Empower's mission and objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or a closely related field is required. A graduate degree in a related field or an MBA is highly preferred
  • At least 12 years of progressive leadership experience in technology operations and security within a dynamic, scaling enterprise environment, with a proven track record of strategic planning and execution
  • Advanced certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or equivalent, along with in-depth experience with cybersecurity frameworks like NIST and ISO 27001, are strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading IT operations and security teams, demonstrating success in delivering high-value technology solutions and improvements to the organization
  • Over 5 years of experience in designing and implementing advanced IT infrastructure solutions, particularly in environments with stringent security and reliability requirements
  • Extensive experience managing security operations, including incident response and disaster recovery planning, with a strong understanding of best practices in these areas
  • Solid foundation in ITIL, engineering principles, agile methodologies, and a comprehensive understanding of NIST standards, particularly in the context of enhancing IT security and operational efficiency
  • Strong grasp of cloud technologies, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS), with the ability to leverage these for strategic advantage
  • Proven experience in managing significant IT security projects, such as the deployment of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) systems, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, and eDiscovery platforms
  • Previous experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry is highly desirable, with an appreciation for the unique challenges and regulatory requirements in these sectors
