We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant with strong customer service and receptionist skills, who is reliable and determined, with a team player mindset to fit in with our clinic culture.

Position Qualifications

The Veterinary Assistant candidate shall preferably meet or exceed the following qualifications:

● Shall be at least 18 years old.

● Shall have a High School Diploma, G.E.D. certification, or equivalent.

● Shall be able to demonstrate a proven track record of previous veterinary assisting or reception.

● Demonstrates a passion for working with animals and their owners and a solid understanding of animal behavior and animal health care.

● Has proficient computer skills with IOS platform and cloud based PIMS.

● Has the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage numerous different client needs at one time.

● Demonstrates attention to detail in order to maintain accurate patient records.

● Has the physical ability to restrain larger pets, when necessary.

● Demonstrate competence in communicating well with others, by email, text, phone call and in person.

● Shall be able to read, write, and converse fluently in English in a professional manner. Bilingual (Spanish/Portuguese) candidates are encouraged to apply.

● Shall be able to provide verifiable positive references.

● Shall have reliable transportation and must be able to work weekdays.

Primary Responsibilities

The Veterinary Assistant will have the following primary responsibilities:

• Schedule and confirm appointments.
• Performs patient follow-up calls and reminders
• Triage patient needs by phone.
• Manage patient records
• Assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians in examining and monitoring animal patients, including holding and restraining animals during exams and administering medications.
• Assist with clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures.
• Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in waiting areas and exam rooms.
• Ensures waiting areas are well stocked.
