Summary: This approximately 24 hour/wk position requires an organized, skilled communicator with a cheerful personality who enjoys engaging with clients and peers to provide the best client and patient experience possible. Attention to detail and strong math skills needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Knowledge and ability to intake and release patients in a competent and friendly manner; including obtaining animal medical history, deliver post-operative instructions
- Ability to communicate basic veterinary concepts to owners and be able to give information relayed by the vet
- Answer phone during clinic hours
- Schedule appointments via email and phone and send appointment reminders via online reminder system
- Take credit card and cash payment for clinic services and balance cash drawer
- Accurately make change and reconcile daily receipts
- Draw up and dispense medication and vaccines
- Assist with cleaning and clinic laundry
- General duties in the operating room during surgery include assisting with movement of patients, recovery of patients and general flow
- Maintain a high level of communication with all Tails staff and Volunteers
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required, Associates Degree or higher preferred
- Experience working in spay/neuter or Vet Clinic a plus

- Must be able to learn/understand basic veterinary medical concepts, including but not limited to vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks
- Ability to read/write/communicate in English, Spanish bilingual a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work occasionally on evenings and weekends
- Comfortable within a team environment
- Positive attitude and professional demeanor
- Ability to effectively organize and manage time
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, handle fluctuating priorities and multiple projects

WORK CONDITIONS
Work performed in a high noise level area. Exposure to industrial cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal feces, zoonotic (human to animal) diseases, bites and scratches. Safety procedures must be adhered to at all times.
