We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical UX Research Intern to work alongside our Design and Product team on a 12 week internship. We're looking for a research intern who is able to do one or more of the following: conduct user interviews, facilitate usability studies, design and analyze surveys, establish research methodologies, and convey insights in an engaging and actionable way.
This role will report to the Head of Product and work closely with the rest of MDCalc's teams to gather insights about users from a variety of research methods.
This is a critical role to help further MDCalc's value, as well as contribute to MDCalc's expanded success in continuing to support our millions of clinical users worldwide in taking care of hundreds of millions of patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, conducting, and analyzing user research studies, including usability testing, interviews, surveys, and observational studies.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to identify research objectives, develop research plans, and incorporate user insights into product design decisions.
- Organize and maintain research documentation, including participant recruitment, consent forms, interview transcripts, and research findings.
- Synthesize research findings into actionable insights and recommendations, and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and interactive workshops.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our user research processes and methodologies, including exploring innovative tools and techniques for gathering and analyzing user feedback.
Requirements:
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Cognitive Science, Information Science, or related field.
- Experience in healthcare industry
- Strong interest in user experience research, usability testing, and human-centered design principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including survey design, interview moderation, and data analysis.
- Experience with user research tools and software (e.g., UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, Qualtrics) is a plus.
- Knowledge of web and mobile design principles, interaction design, and information architecture is desirable but not required.
