This teaching position is located at an alternative education campus at the Nexus Children’s Specialty Hospital in The Woodlands, TX. 100% of the students have diverse learning needs and a high percentage of students receive special education. The total number of students at the school is about 16 students who range from 6th-12th grades. Start date is 8/1/24. This is a year-round (10 months, 194 days) position from August 1st to May 31. Salary is spread over 12 months. A new hire for this position will be required to attend 2 days of paid new employee orientation on July 30, 2024 and July 31, 2024 in Austin, Texas.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Effectively plan and use appropriate instructional interventions, strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to add educational value for each student. ESL, GT, at-risk, etc.
- Comply with UT-UCS curriculum standards and all relevant policies and procedures UT, UT-UCS, and campus. Implement each student's IEP and 504 accommodations as stated.
- Establish and maintain open communication with the principal, professional support personnel, teachers, facility staff, parents, and students.
- Manage student behavior effectively and in accordance with the treatment plan if applicable, the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
- Conduct ongoing, formal, and informal assessment of student learning. Utilize data effectively to inform instruction.
- Participate in faculty meetings, committee meetings and staff development as require
