Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in designing and preparing instructional materials and implementing daily lessons that engage all learners and fit in with the lead teacher’s long-term learning plan.
- Assess student work regularly to ensure that it meets the lead teacher’s criteria and standards for quality work, and that students are meeting increasingly higher standards of quality.
- Assist the lead teacher in conducting and organizing ongoing assessments of student performance
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing academic, social, or behavioral interventions and accommodations for individual and small groups of students
- Monitor students in the classroom, hallways, at recess, on field trips, and during other school-related activities
- Engage parents and families in their child’s academic success by fostering an ongoing relationship centered around hopes and dreams
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
- Engage in an ongoing collaboration with the lead teacher to develop goals for the classroom, clarify expectations for roles, jointly determine characteristics of an effective working relationship, and understand each other’s strengths and working styles
- Engage in regular team meetings with the lead teacher to maintain a productive working relationship and to discuss progress towards yearly goals
- Incorporate teacher feedback and coaching suggestions into practice.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year experience in education (preferred)
- Have general technology capacity
- References that reflect high standing with past employer
- Able to lift up to 10 pounds and able to stand for long hours
