About the Position
Lee Montessori Public Charter Schools seeks highly motivated Extended Day Teachers to work at either our Brookland or East End campus. The Extended Day Teachers reports to the Out of School Time Programs Manager and works closely with members of the Extended Day team and school-day teachers to provide summer, before-, and aftercare programming at both campuses. The ideal candidate will have had previous experience working with early childhood and elementary-aged children. This position is a part-time position, requiring approximately 18 hours per week. There is a possibility that this position will continue into the summer months at a full-time capacity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Greets and communicates with children in a warm, welcoming manner.
- Research, plan, and organize exceptional, enriching extended day lessons and activities for Primary or Elementary students, with a strong focus on social justice, cultural diversity, community, identity, and action. (For Example: Creating hands-on lessons, activities, games, and more, as it relates to themes of focus).
- Supervise children in a small group with disabilities in accordance with school day practices.
- Work with children in small groups activities and assist with large group management and activities.
- Daily room set-up and break-down, including but not limited to moving materials, supplies, and equipment necessary and setting up classrooms.
- Follow all emergency procedures, safety protocols, and drills as outlined in the Out of School Time manual.
- Establish and maintain a professional and supportive relationship with all students, families, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Assist with taking daily attendance and keeping attendance records.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Provide basic administrative support, including but not limited to recording and monitoring attendance.
- Support the writing of incident reports as needed.
- Communicate any urgent concerns immediately to the Site Coordinator.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience working with school-age youth (PK3-6) in a school or after-school setting.
- Dynamic, nurturing, and passionate energy.
- A demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and proficiency at spotting and addressing issues of race and identity.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be willing to be CPR/First Aid certified
Compensation
Hourly rate starts at $18 per hour.
Hours
Staff must be available to work at least 15 hours per week

Monday through Thursday: 3:15 pm - 6:15 pm
Friday: 12:45 -6:15 pm
