Mission/Purpose of Job
The Uptime Operations Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing and modeling existing business processes. The Business Analyst uses modeling tools to document the current state of business processes as well as the desired future state. The role is responsible for the knowledge transfer of business implications to the application/database developers, common case tools and to Uptime Operations Management team. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Uptime Operations Support.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Development and maintenance of reporting tools. Provides analytic support by coordinating data extraction from various databases and interpretation to transform data into usable business information.
  • Creates reports, dashboards, and visualizations to help others understand business performance.
  • Understand and document business processes in multiple departmental areas with a focus on innovation to exceed customer expectations.
  • Works closely with the business and technical teams and is a major contributor to the requirements specification deliverables on any software tool development.
  • Aids in writing business and functional requirements on behalf of Uptime Operations teams.
  • Understands Volvo Group Aftermarket business and ensures that there is integration between business and technology needs of the team.
  • Negotiates as needed on product functionalities to support the teams.
  • Gathers and support business requirements when needed and works to translate into functional specifications.
  • Partners with development and analytic teams to provide reporting on software solutions.
  • Participates in Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and functionality testing.

Essential Education/Training and Certificates
  • BS degree required. Specialized data science Masters degree an advantage.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Suite of products, including Power BI, Power Automate along with data visualization (Tableau, R, Python) and database management (SQL) knowledge.
  • Exposure and basic conceptual understanding of emerging AI tools and usage opportunities
  • Strong background in ASIST, Case Management procedures, mapping tool
  • Cloud based phone system general administration knowledge and/or experience.

Preferred Experience and Knowledge
  • 5 years experience working with business processes and analytics.
  • Understanding of Uptime Operations Business processes.
  • Effective documentation skills.
  • Strong Coding Skills
  • Strong Business Acumen
  • Transportation Industry knowledge is a plus
