Responsibilities:
- Able to troubleshoot and load paper for copiers.
- Acts as a receptionist.
- Consistently strives to keep work areas neat, clean and clutter free.
- Sets a positive tone and uses excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
- Finds ways to be more efficient.
- Answers telephone efficiently and courteously documenting/relaying messages to staff, physicians, families etc.
- Assists with physician pages and notifies physicians of consults.
- Assists with patients, family, staff, and physician inquiries or refers to appropriate source.
- Assists in the admitting, discharge and transfer of patients ensuring accuracy of paperwork.
- Assists with all codes as needed.
- Completes required paperwork, time recording, and notification of involved teams.
- Assists with self-scheduling and is flexible when necessary.
- Competent in performing results inquiry, patient location.
- Maintains patient nutrition supplies, monitors for expiration dates, and adequacy of supplies.
- Follows patient privacy rules (HIPPAA).
- Maintains Code CVA binders.
- Faxes forms to outside agencies as needed (example: Kankakee County Animal Control 'Bite Forms').
- Maintains updated call lists.
- Monitors security cameras located at Unit Secretary desk and alerts appropriate staff of any concerns.
- Operates 'panic buttons' and electronic door opener located at Unit Secretary desk.
- Orders supplies for the department.
- Performs downtime procedures.
- Reviews all EKGs in the EKG machine to ensure an order is entered and patient identification is included. Sorts and distributes incoming mail; copies/faxes chart as required and files information on patient chart; scans paperwork and photographs into electronic medical record.
