Union Assistant Superintendent

Summary/Objective

We are looking for a flexible, results-driven team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work and consistently meet deadlines.

Essential Functions

• Assist with maintaining the project schedule and controlling costs;
• Proactively identify and strategically solve problems with minimal executive oversight;
• Maintain compliance with construction codes, and safety and government regulations;
• Help oversee internal and external team members, including subcontractors;
• Organize project records including subcontracts, change orders, permits and drawings;
• Build strong relationships with clients/owners, subcontractors and inspection authorities;
• Communicate company policies to crews, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, and owner;
• Ensure all onsite operations are conducted safely, on-time, on-budget and to our quality standards;
• Coordinate and direct subcontractors to complete the project within the given budget and time frame
• Assist with overall quality control on the project for both the Company and the subcontractors;
• Analyze and resolve construction problems, develop and implement corrective actions as required, and monitor corrective actions to ensure they are effective in coordination with the Project Superintendent;
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, submittals, shop drawings, and job orders as needed for area of supervision; and
• Assist with completing and maintaining as needed: Timecards, Daily Reports, Concrete Pour Logs, Daily Production Forms, Absence Reports, Termination Notices, Problem Discussion Forms, and Injury Reports, etc.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a construction foreman or equivalent role;
• Willingness to attend safety meetings and receive required training on employee’s own time;
• Ability to work well with others, particularly subcontractors, and suppliers, in order to direct the completion of required work in both an accurate and timely manner;
• Ability to multitask; and
• Proficiency with construction technology, construction management and BIM software, Procore, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, P-6 Scheduling and Blue Beam preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has a limited supervisory role of crews and subcontractors.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time union position. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

This position requires frequent travel.

Required Education and Experience

2+ years related experience in construction preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

1. Must pass a pre-employment screen, including but not limited to: drug and alcohol screen, background check, motor vehicle records check, reference check and physical.
2. Current and valid drivers’ license in the state of permanent residence (must be insurable by Jayne’s automobile insurance carrier in order to drive a Jayne’s vehicle).
3. Must be eligible per Fleet Safety Management policy to operate a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for company purposes.
4. Proof of current completion of a general course recognized by Jaynes in “Hazardous Substances – Recognition and Protection”, First Aid, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens and the OSHA 10 hour class, if applicable. (Or must attend next available class.)
5. Must be a current union member in good standing.
