POSITION TITLE: Assistant Superintendent

General Responsibility:
As an Assistant Superintendent for a Commercial and Multi-Family construction company, your primary responsibility is to assist the Superintendent in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. This position requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Significant Duties:
- Project Support:
- Assist the Superintendent in project planning and scheduling.
- Help in the development of construction strategies and execution plans.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project flow.
- Site Management:
- Oversee day-to-day on-site construction activities, ensuring they meet project timelines and quality standards.
- Monitor progress and provide regular updates to the Superintendent.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement safety protocols.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure that work is executed according to plans and specifications.
- Identify and address any quality issues promptly.
- Subcontractor Coordination:
- Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors to schedule their work efficiently.
- Resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during subcontractor work.
- Material and Equipment Management:
- Assist in the procurement and tracking of construction materials and equipment.
- Maintain inventory records and ensure availability when needed.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and change orders.
- Assist in keeping project records and reports organized and up-to-date.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with project teams, including architects, engineers, and other stakeholders, to resolve issues and keep projects on track.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Problem Solving:
- Identify and address challenges or obstacles that may affect project progress.
- Work with the Superintendent to develop solutions to complex issues.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in commercial and multi-family construction as a construction manager, field engineer, or similar role.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
