Form of workMission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). THIS IS A CASUAL POSITION WORKING A MAXIMUM OF 900 HOURS PER CALENDAR YEAR.
The Undergraduate in Emergency Management Intern will work under the direct supervision of a manager and mentor supporting MSTS Emergency Response Organization. Interns will have the opportunity to support facilities, command centers and the Emergency Management drill and exercise programs. Intern’s will become knowledgeable of DOE Order 151.1d, Comprehensive Emergency Management, Consolidated Emergency Management Plan, and actively participate in drills, exercises and real-world Emergency Management activities.
We are looking for qualified and motivated Undergrad students that are pursuing a degree in:
- Emergency Management
- Emergency Response
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting NNSS and North Las Vegas Facility (NLVF) facility drills and exercises by providing logistical support and assisting in the conduct of the drills and exercises.
- Updating facility evacuation maps at the NNSS and at the NLVF.
- Supporting and assisting command center operations by updating reference materials, checklists and other supporting documents.

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
- Completion of the first year in an Emergency Management, Emergency Response, or related field degree program at an accredited institution.
- Must be actively enrolled in school.
- Must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. (upload of current transcripts required).
Must have:
- Planning and organizational skills and initiative
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Have self-motivating attitude
- Ability to follow directions, both written and verbal, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Strong computer skills are desired, including MS Office, TEAMS, and SharePoint
- The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
- A pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Hourly range for this position is $15.00 - $20.99.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
