Transportation Supervisor

The Transportation Supervisor assists the Transportation Manager with all facets of the department’s operations and personnel, in order to maximize production, minimize costs and to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure compliance with all Company policies and Transportation safety procedures
• Communicate daily with the Manager, Transportation regarding all aspects of transportation operations, production results, equipment and personnel issues.

• Relieve drivers during their absences, if the transportation schedule requires such relief

• Comply with all Employment and Health & Safety Policies and Procedures

• Actively participate in the Joint Health and Safety committees & communicate safety issues with all Staff & members of the JHSC

• Manage all employee scheduling, start times and vacation planning.

• Conduct and assist in accident & Incident investigations.

• Participate in annual driver evaluation reviews

• Maintain an up to date record (abstract) on each driver

• Responsible for administering drivers training and all Tool Box Talks.

• Process drivers’ hours and submit to Manager, Transportation for approval.

• Attend to daily truck Maintenance issues and schedule in for repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills/Experience:

• 3-5 years experience in a Supervisor position preferably in the transportation industry
• Roll Off and Rear Packer driving experience a plus
• Knowledge of forklift operation
• Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures
• Excellent management writing and verbal communication skills
• Proven skills to interact effectively with employees at all levels in the organization
• Strong communication & organizational skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Normal plant/outside work environment with seasonal exposure to hot and cold temperatures
• Percentage of time spent in office environment
• Work hours will vary depending on client/route schedule requirements

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
