Provides technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Assists with project planning and oversight, and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Essential Duties:
Assists in overseeing project design involving design calculations and sketches of plans, layouts and typical sections.

Coordinates and performs interim and final inspections to identify deficiencies
Coordinates compilation of complete plan packages for submission to the responsible engineer or architect for review and signature.
Coordinates with roadway design on schematics and reviews in-house and consultant traffic control plans or traffic projects.
Reviews and oversees plan packages submitted by consultants.
Reviews and revises Plans, Specifications & Estimates and project designs from district.
Reviews construction records, inspection reports and records audits to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges and related structures in accordance with plans and specifications.
Trains and makes training-related recommendations to staff on new operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 5 years transportation design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance, bridge inspection experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid US driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
