POSITION SUMMARY:Transportation Specialist I is responsible for providing transportation services for the frail and elderly participants from their homes to the Rocky Mountain Health Care Services (RMHCS) center and for medical appointments. Transportation Specialist I must maintain clean vehicles, and perform vehicle checks regularly for safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Drives vehicles in a safe and responsible manner utilizing defensive driving skills and follow assigned routes. This includes smooth breaking, and acceleration, taking bumps or curves at a reasonable speed, etc.
- Loads and unloads participants in and out of vehicles safely following correct Policies and Procedures
- Escorts participants safely from the bus thru door and back on to the bus utilizing all safety training, safety equipment and skills
- Ensures the proper securement of the participants inside the vehicle and while unloading using the proper safety equipment and procedures
- Notifies Dispatcher if running late on a pickup or route
- Notifies Appropriate staff of all cancels and reason why
- Transports participants to scheduled appointments as arranged by the dispatcher
- Assists participants in their home environment or other locations with tasks when necessary (i.e.: put on socks, shoes, jackets, etc.)
- Maintains clean vehicle, by regularly sweeping floors, cleaning glass, cleaning exterior, etc.
- Maintains safe working environment to include maintaining a safe vehicle by ensuring all aspects of the vehicle are in top working condition, documenting all deficiencies on the DVIR and reporting any safety issues immediately to Transportation Management
- Works with Transportation Management to schedule maintenance or repairs of vehicles
- Notifies dispatcher of any participant transportation needs, noted participant concerns, or issues observed in the participants houses
- Assists participants at appointments or other assigned outings, as needed
- Must remain patient and maintain good customer service, supporting the Rocky Mountain Way, when working with dispatcher, supervisors, participants or customers either internal or external
- Required to maintain detailed notes and documentation, submitting documentation timely
- Performs other duties as requested/assigned
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt- High School Diploma or GED is required. Equivalent experience in lieu of education will be accepted
- Experience working with the frail, elderly or disabled population highly desired
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Experience driving large vehicles highly desired
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers
- Must have a current Colorado Drivers License and driving record must be in compliance with Company policy. Must maintain current automobile insurance
- Must have and maintain a driving record which is in compliance with Company Policy
- Must be able to maintain a safe work environment.
- Must be knowledgeable in computer applications including email and navigating the internet
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, vendors, medical staff, and the public
- Must be available to work all Transportation operational hours which may include overtime, on-call and weekends
- Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision
