Compensation
The compensation target range for this role is:
$57,000 - $60,000Job Summary
Responsible for providing oversight and leadership for the efficient, cost-effective transport of products from Purple Distribution and Vendors to distribution centers and stores in multi-state regions and customers. This position serves as one if the sites Contact/Liaison with outside carriers on transportation and delivery concerns. Senior Transportation Specialist partners with Inhouse Outbound / Inbound Order Management Logistics Teams, and Carriers. Companies on shipment and transport issues support the business. Assists Senior Transportation Manager with projects related to Transportation, and Purple Fleet. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.Work Schedule/Location: Lehi, UT & other travel as needed.
NOTE: Training will be at Lehi, UT, Grantsville, UT & Remote. Post training 1-2 days at Lehi, UT & 3 days remote. This could change based on business needs.
Monday - Friday; 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (On Call weekend Duty max. 1 weekend per month).
Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Works closely with Purple’s Inbound and Outbound Coordinators in load planning and booking within Purple’s freight structure.
Assist the Transportation Manager with day-to-day transactions in Purple’s TMS.
Manages day-to-day relationships with all carriers and brokers used by Purple including booking, dispatching, tracking, tracing, obtaining PODs when needed and filing claims.
Cross-functionally in nearly all departments at Purple to manage freight. These departments include (but are not limited to: Procurement and Sourcing, Receiving, Warehouse, Shipping and Fulfillment, 3PL team, Sales, Customer Care, Purple-Owned Retail, Production, Engineering, Inventory Control, Accounting and Finance, IT, Business Intelligence, Legal, and occasionally Marketing.
Participate in improvement projects that are cross-functional in nature to improve Purple’s supply chain from procurement of raw materials to the delivery of finished goods.
Identifies and executes cost reduction initiatives.
Collaborate with carriers and vendors to improve processes, meet on time deliveries, and reduce costs of inbound shipments. Works with those groups on the returns of damaged or defective items.
Lead the transportation team in special projects that require carriers.
Work as a member of the Transportation Team to ensure customer orders ship on time and complete.
Provide insight and experience into most facets of the Logistics Department when called upon as a Transportation Senior Specialist.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Employees are held accountable for all duties in this position.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Must pass background check and drug test.
Proven work experience in the DOT regulated Transportation field.
Solid knowledge of supply chain management
Proficient in transportation software, TMS, YMS and ERP
Strong Communication and team building skills.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Excellent customer service skills
Strong verbal communicator
Education and/or formal training:
Bachelor’s degree required.
5-7 years of experience in transportation or logistics industry.
Superior personal organizational skills
Proficiency in NetSuite or other ERP systems.
Ability to extract and analyze data, develop reports.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects in a dynamic and rapidly growing environment.
