About the Position
The Transportation Planner will play an integral role in the daily operations of the company and contribute to its overall success. This position will support the Transportation department.
This position's salary range is between $81,200-$107,300 base plus up to a 15% annual bonus based on performance. This position is hybrid and/or remote flexible within the US. This position is based in Seattle, WA.
The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in transportation planning with experience in the preparation of level of service (LOS) and vehicle miles traveled (VMT) analysis. Knowledge and experience working with TransCAD and local travel demand models (i.e. SCAG, SBTAM, RIVCOM, OCTAM) is preferred. Working knowledge of GIS (ESRI ArcGIS experience preferred) is a plus, but not necessary.
The Transportation Planner will be responsible for managing the preparation of projects, supervising preparation of technical analysis, providing review of technical work products, and mentoring Assistant Transportation Planner-level staff. This is a mid-level position, and the candidate is expected to be technically proficient, or have the experience and ability to independently learn technical skills as necessary. Understanding of the principals and methods used in project accounting and project management.
The Transportation Planner will perform the responsibilities generally described below, as well as any additional duties as needed to support the overall objectives of the company:
Responsibilities:
- Manage the preparation of Traffic Impact, VMT and Parking Impact Analyses, including adherence to project schedules and budget
- Prepare technical traffic and parking analyses using Vistro, Synchro, TransCAD, AutoCAD and other software as needed
- Research and interpret applicable policies, guidelines, and technical methodologies as part of the preparation of technical traffic analyses
- Train junior staff in the preparation of technical analysis such as trip generation, VMT screening, LOS analysis, and other tasks necessary to complete technical traffic analyses
- Research and interpret roadway standards and site design standards. Apply standards as necessary to prepare roadway signing and striping plans and truck turning templates
- Maintain consistent communications with internal and external stakeholders and clients
- The Transportation Planner may perform GIS analysis, queries, searches, and data manipulation. This would also require maintenance of geographic databases and review of GIS data supplied by others

Qualifications:
- 3-6 years relevant work experience required
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
- Experience with related systems including Synchro, PTV Vistro, Traffix, ESRI ArcGIS, and/or TransCAD required for position
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills
