POSITION TITLE: Transportation Coordinator - Transportation Department
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate or equivalent and five years of clerical/secretarial experience, with a minimum of two years at the level of secretary.
- or A.A. Degree in Secretarial Science and three years of clerical/secretarial experience, two years of which must have been at the level of secretary.
- CDL or willingness to obtain CDL License and all endorsements to drive a school bus within 6 months of hire date preferred

Immediate supervising Administrator / Transportation Director
JOB GOAL:
This is a support position for the Transportation Department that involves general departmental management. Employees in this class perform a variety of complex clerical, management, and administrative duties requiring comprehensive knowledge of the departmental program. The coordinator exercises independent judgment and action, including making frequent decisions in accordance with delegated responsibilities from the assigned supervisor. Primary emphasis is placed upon relieving the supervisor of administrative details by preparing and organizing required paperwork, route development, scheduling, communicating with staff, processing equipment and parts orders, and supporting budget maintenance.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and adjust regular bus routes.
- Schedule extra routes including athletic events and field trips.
- Communicating with schools, parents, and drivers.
- Answers telephone, takes messages and answers inquiries within assigned scope of responsibility.
- Schedules appointments, meetings and reserves rooms for meetings.
- Prepares materials for workshops, conferences, meetings, etc...
- Maintain files and records.
- Prepares and expedites purchase orders.
- Orders, distributes, and keeps an inventory of supplies within assigned department.
- Assist with bus routes and driving as a substitute driver as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
