POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• The Medical Records/Transportation Coordinator will have a minimum of 1 year of experience, in a long term care health care setting, working in the area of health information management.
• Additional experience in medical records coding, quality improvement, and medical records auditing preferred.
• Preferred Associate Degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
• Certification and/or additional education in the areas of health information management, and/or quality improvement preferred.
• The candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
• Must have a strong working knowledge of both regulatory requirements and third party reimbursement requirements for records including: required content, confidentiality and safety of records, requirements for release of information, and long term maintenance of records.
• Excellent Verbal Skill
• Must have good organizational and communication skills
• Neatness, accuracy and attention to detail required
• Computer skills required
• Must have ability to relate well with residents, personnel, family members, visitors, physicians, governmental agencies and the general public.
