The Novelis North America Logistics team is seeking a Logistics Load Coordinator. The person in this role will be responsible for routing Novelis Recycling freight, tracking load status and escalating transportation issues. The role requires a good working relationship between our 3rd party shipping locations and our carrier base. The incumbent will work closely with Novelis Recycling, Procurement, Supply Chain, plant personnel and will have some supplier contact. The Novelis North America Logistics team is seeking a Logistics Load Coordinator. The person in this role will be responsible for routing Novelis Recycling freight, tracking load status and escalating transportation issues. The role requires a good working relationship between our 3rd party shipping locations and our carrier base. The incumbent will work closely with Novelis Recycling, Procurement, Supply Chain, plant personnel and will have some supplier contact. The Logistics Load Coordinator will support our company purpose, Shaping a Sustainable World Together.
Responsibilities:
- Load building, dispatch, track and trace of freight, and daily reporting of results.
- Ensure the most cost-efficient carrier, route, and weight compliance.
- Analyze logistical data trends for cost savings and optimization opportunities (e.g. lane cost optimization, load weight optimization, multi-stop load opportunities, awarded carrier performance, etc.)
- Explore new methods of transporting material from suppliers and to customers.
- Publish daily report with missed delivery data and forward-looking load pick up performance. Collaborate with other stakeholders to mitigate operational and financial impact to Novelis.
- Support Novelis North America Logistics to identify lower cost opportunities.
- Trouble shoot various rating and systems issues on behalf of the Logistics team.
- Provide backup to plant logistics load coordinators as necessary.
- Build strong relationships with our carriers, scrap suppliers, plants, and internal customers in Novelis Recycling.
- Assist in administration for logistics function including data maintenance facilitation and invoice settlement processes including disputes.
- Support logistics/carrier related Environmental, Health, & Safety and onboarding activities as needed
Qualifications
- 4 year College Degree required
- 1 year of transportation service or transportation management experience
- 1 year of customer service or client management experience
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- PC literate with emphasis on Word and Excel; ability to do detailed Excel data analysis; JDA/Blue Yonder Transportation Manager is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical problem solving skills
- Willing to be available after hours and weekends as needed
- A strong work ethic and willing to work hard to build a long term career
