About the organization: Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco's homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.
About the team: This is a brand new program that supports young parents (ages 18-24) who are experiencing homelessness and housing instability. The Transitional Aged Youth Program will provide support for parents as they navigate Compass programs and San Francisco's homeless services.
Pay rate: $30-33 per hour, equal to $58-64k annually
Schedule: Full time, Monday-Friday, primarily during standard business hours. Occasional evening and weekend events.

Responsibilities:
The Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) Coordinator will collaborate and build capacity within Compass programs to support TAY families who are experiencing homelessness to obtain stable and permanent housing. This includes case management, developing a resource guide of available services, and leading trainings for colleagues at Compass and other agencies.
The TAY Coordinator must understand the complex issues and barriers housing facing TAY families in the SF Bay Area and have a track record of assisting transitional age youth. Candidates with personal experience of homelessness as a young adult are especially encouraged to apply.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Workshops and groups: facilitate support group for TAY families, lead housing workshops for youth, and lead workshops and trainings for community partners.
- Provide Case Management Services to TAY Families
- Create a TAY focused resource bank and service guide.
- Help TAY families through all stages of the housing search process, including support with navigating the homeless response system, completing housing applications, navigating compass' and identifying and applying for assistance with move-in funds.
- Provide crisis intervention, community and support services, information and referral, family budget assistance, and advocacy.
- Maintain up-to-date and thorough client files, both paper and electronic.
- Attend TAY provider convening meetings and other community meetings relevant to TAY families.
The TAY Coordinator should have these skills:
- Experience working with TAY in crisis and demonstrated understanding of issues facing homeless and low-income youth and families.
- Individuals with Lived TAY homeless experience highly encouraged to apply.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including relationship-building, networking, and ability to develop trusting relationships with a diverse set of individuals.
- Outstanding work habits: punctuality, communication, reliability, cooperation, organization, professionalism. Ability to work independently and to juggle many responsibilities concurrently.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Salesforce experience a plus.
- Fluency in Spanish highly desirable
- Covid vaccination required for all staff
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $30 - $33 per hour based on experience, languages spoken and education. Equivalent to approximately $58,000-$64,000 based on a 37.5 hour work week.
- Paid time off: just under 4 weeks of vacation your first year, just under 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.
- Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.
- Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-5.
