Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Youth Engagement Coordinator to lead our efforts in the Los Angeles area, focusing on engaging K-12 students and young adults aged 18-24 in construction, STEM, and STEAM programs. This role involves developing and implementing initiatives to inspire students and bridge the gap between education and rewarding careers in the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute construction-focused STEM/STEAM programs for K-12 students in the Los Angeles area, fostering interest in construction-related careers.
- Cultivate partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and industry stakeholders to enhance educational programs and workshops.
- Create and implement hands-on activities and events that integrate STEM/STEAM principles with real-world construction concepts.
- Collaborate with educators, industry professionals, and mentors to provide guidance and support to students exploring construction-related pathways.
- Establish connections with construction companies, trade unions, and local organizations to create internship and apprenticeship opportunities for youth aged 18-24.
- Conduct outreach activities to increase awareness of construction careers and STEM/STEAM education, participating in career fairs and community events.
- Monitor and assess program effectiveness, collecting data to measure impact and make informed improvements.
- Provide personalized guidance and support to young adults aged 18-24, assisting them in navigating educational and career pathways in construction and STEM/STEAM fields.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align Youth Engagement initiatives with organizational goals and community needs.
- Stay updated on local construction industry trends, educational innovations, and workforce demands.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, youth development, construction management, or a related field.
- Proven experience working with K-12 students and young adults in the Los Angeles area.
- Knowledge of STEM/STEAM education principles and their application in construction-related contexts.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially in a diverse community.
- Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local stakeholders.
- Passion for promoting diversity and inclusivity within STEM, construction, and education.
- Familiarity with Los Angeles area construction industry trends and workforce development strategies.
