This position is for an LCRA Transmission Equipment Operator that is part of a 15 man Transmission Line Crew that works throughout central Texas. This position will report to a crew leader and will be under the guidance of a construction supervisor. The team travels to project sites on a weekly basis and project durations can last from days to months.
This posting is for candidates with some experience, but we can hire entry level or experienced operators at various levels and they will paid commensurately.
You will be trusted to:
At an entry level, operates equipment in support of Transmission construction and maintenance projects. Equipment may include scrapers, bulldozers, cranes, boom trucks, trench diggers and/or transport equipment.
- Operates equipment as assigned for construction projects.
- Maintains equipment. Inspects, cleans, adjusts, lubricates, and makes minor adjustments and repairs on the equipment or may make arrangements for major repairs and overhaul as needed.
- Participates in training to gain greater knowledge of procedures, tools, and safe equipment operation pertinent to assigned work area.
- Transports heavy equipment (e.g., backhoe, dump truck, small excavator and large excavator).
- Loads, hauls and unloads various equipment.
- Assists and/or directs lower level employees (such as helpers and temporary workers) in the practice of afe and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Interprets and follows all safety departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains understanding and compliance of permitted loads.
- Performs work by traveling independently or with a small crew to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.) as scheduled.
An Operator may focus on one of the four areas outlined below:
- Trucking - Uses tractor trailer to transport heavy equipment and materials to job sites
- Right of Way - Uses equipment as well as chemicals to clear rights of way
- Site Prep - Uses heavy equipment to clear and prepare ground for construction sites
- Line - Uses heavy equipment in the construction of transmission lines

You qualify with:
- One or more years of experience in operating large equipment, such as bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, cranes, tractor trailers, farm equipment or other machinery.
- Class A Texas commercial driver's license or equivalent from another state.
- Advancement to this level requires successful completion of the following Transmission Equipment Operator Training Program objectives:
- 2000 hours of on-the-job training
- Qualification of Transmission Equipment Operator Year 1 tasks
- Completion of all assigned related training curriculum or equivalent accredited training
- Supervisor approval
