TITLE: Training and Professional Development Manager

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Managers are responsible for creating, training, and supporting Professional Development plans for the organization. They oversee the evaluation of how effective training activities are and make recommendations for improvement. They also ensure the integration of training methods, systems, and processes to help accomplish the organization's goals and objectives. Sometimes, they create training materials like learning modules.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Leads and encourages staff to reach goals, while implementing the company's policies and regulations.
- Responsible for designing and developing career and Professional growth programs for the organization.
- Planning interviews and assessments to identify the employees' needs, establishing guidelines and timelines, coordinating staff, liaising with internal and external parties, and collaborating with other experts.
- Develop training programs to enhance employees' soft and hard skills.
- Develops training curricula and/or recommends or utilizes vendor programs that meet institutional and organizational goals and objectives.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates leadership programs for the University.
- Delivers group and individual instruction and Training and Professional Development covering a range of management areas and operations, in a specified field.
- Formulates training outlines and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and/or workshops.
- Selects or develops training aids, including training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
- Manages administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training programs.
- Evaluates effectiveness of Training and Professional Development programs and utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods.
- Assists in analyzing and assessing Training and development needs for individuals, communities, and/or university departments.
- May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed Bachelor’s degree(s) from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Teaching and facilitation skills.
- Ability to determine training objectives.
- Organizing and coordinating skills.
- Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate training plans, curricula, and methodology.
- Skill in preparing instructional aids and plans.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods
- Occasional ability to lift, carry, and put away parcels weighing up to 35 pounds
- Normal physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job taking distance and speed into account
- Normal physical agility, which includes ability to maneuver body while in place
- Normal physical strength to handle routine office materials and tools
- Normal dexterity of hands and fingers
- Normal coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot
- Normal endurance
