The Work Services Grant area of the Human Services and Public Health department is seeking two Trainee Case Management Assistants to join our team. Under general supervision, the CMA's will be assigned to work with unsheltered families seeking overnight space during inclement weather events. The job duties for these positions will be a combination of on-site work at the county's new arrival shelter and at the space identified as families warm/safe spaces.
Effective December 31, 2023, there will be a general salary adjustment of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range.Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. These positions are on-site and will be located in downtown Minneapolis at the Federal Plaza at 219 4th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487. Candidates must be available to work various shifts between the hours of 5 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. - 9 a.m., Monday through Sunday. The overnight positions will be awake positions. Working holiday and weekend hours will be required for these positions.
These are limited duration (temporary), full-time benefit earning positions that may last up to two years.

- Provide support to unsheltered families assembling in a congregate space.
- Work with the HC Shelter Team to receive unsheltered families arriving in congregate space including registration in HMIS.
- Provide coverage support for unsheltered residents in collaboration with shelter staff.
- Show strong interest and commitment to public sector career goals.
- Indicate a willingness and ability to complete the on-the-job training program within 12 months.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the various individuals served by Hennepin County.
- Experience:
- Working with multiple providers, staff, and collaborative partners to improve the care of diverse and underserved people which may include individuals with a variety of cultural and language barriers.
- Working with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or are unsheltered.
- Ability to:
- Work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.
- Make sound, independent judgment.
- Work both independently and collaboratively as an effective team member.
