If you are a mature, reliable, hard-working individual with attention to detail we would like to talk with you. Currently, we need a technician to produce nutrient media for plant Tissue Culture and to maintain plants in Tissue Culture (ex. trim plants and transfer into fresh growing media). We are looking for someone who works hard and with a sense of urgency and finds satisfaction in the process of completing a job correctly each time. Following training, most of this work will be completed on-site independently with remote guidance/support.
This is a great opportunity to learn about the art and science of plant Tissue Culture and how modern plant nurseries produce clean plants. Additionally, we allow for some flexible determination of your working hours (within reason). Previous experience in a lab or light manufacturing is a plus, but not required.
Background: Refined Genetics is a genetic development company supplying nursery products and seeds to the cannabis industry. Refined provides direct value to farmers and greenhouse operators as premium plants produced in Tissue Culture are vigorous, less susceptible to pests and pathogens, and higher yielding. Applicant must be comfortable working with cannabis within a cannabis-licensed facility.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
● Support day-to-day operations within plant Tissue Culture Lab.
● Produce nutrient plant media for use within the lab.
● Empty and wash used Tissue Culture vessels and glassware.
● Maintain a stock of plants in Tissue Culture, which includes trimming and transferring plants from old media into fresh growth media.
● Deliver finished plants from the lab to the nursery.
● Perform inventory on plants and equipment/chemicals as requested.
● Perform maintenance checks and logging as requested.
● Maintain a clean and tidy lab and workspace.

● Enjoys working independently and listening to podcasts/music.
● Has some experience working in light manufacturing, with plants in a nursery setting, or labs in general, although not required (will train).
● Willingness to travel periodically to customer sites is considered a plus.

● Open to applicants who do not have a high school diploma/GED or college diploma.
● A good fit for applicants with gaps in their resume, or who have been out of the workforce for the past 6 months or more.
● A good job for someone just entering the workforce or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education.
