Responsible for the daily operation of the Thrift Store.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: A team player, able to work in a fast paced environment. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Able to deal with people in a positlve way. Basic computer skills in Microsoft, Excel and internet knowledge required. Able to deal with difficult people. Committed to the mission of the Humane Society of South Mississippi.

Qualifications: Must be 18 or older; able to lift 50 lbs.; able to stand, bend and perform duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

MEASUREMENTS

• Assists customers with identification of products
• Processes customer transactions
• Facilitates transactions in a courteous and timely manner.
• Organizes and cleans Thrift Store area
• Processes and stocks merchandis
• Maintains presence in Thrift area
• Greets customers entering the facility and Thrift Store
• Assists with donations made to Thrift Store items
• Seeks customer feedback to identify marketable products
• Supports pick-up of Thrift Store donations
• Supports other shelter activities as needed
• Intakes and processes Thrift Store donations
• Works with assigned volunteers to ensure daily activities are being performed
• Responsible for placement of merchandise.
• Responsible for ordering proper supplies needed to operate Thrift Store.
• Responsible for pricing, and sale of merchandise as well as a balanced budget each month.
• Able to manage volunteers in processing area in a positive, productive manner.

General Expectations

• Is flexible with scheduling and is available when away from the facility as needed to meet the needs of the organization.
• Promotes and follows safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment. Takes immediate action to address any safety concern or noncompliance with OSHA safety rules that could put an employee, volunteer, client, animal or organization at risk.
• Promotes integration and engagement of volunteers.
• Promotes communication and cooperation between Humane Society departments.
• Actively solicits donations, promotes retail/thrift sales

For Managers:

• Is visible to staff, communicates with directors on significant developments within the department.
• Ensures that polices and procedures are being followed

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an animal shelter setting. Exposure to high noise levels, cleaning agents and zoonosis when in the kennel areas. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation. Standing, bending and stretching for 8 — 10 hours per day. Computer usage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $11.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
