Families Rising is The New York Foundling's Alternative to Incarceration Program, serving 13 to 27 year-olds charged with misdemeanors, non-violent felonies, and violent felonies in New York City's Criminal and Supreme Courts. Young people participate in therapeutic services as an alternative to facing jail or prison sentences. Reports to assigned program supervisor or covering supervisor. Provides home-based clinical treatment utilizing Functional Family Therapy (FFT) as an Alternative to Incarceration program for clients between the ages of 13 to 27. Provides services to an assigned caseload of up to 8 cases and provides coverage for peer's caseload as needed.
- Manages travel requirements involved in serving families in their homes. Can be asked to work in up to two boroughs.
- Conducts assessments including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses and individualized treatment planning.
- Participates in all required agency, model and stakeholder trainings, individual and group coaching and staff meetings.
- Adheres to model expectations and implements FFT services with fidelity.
- Consistently meets all program and model Key Performance Indicators (including session pacing, successful client outcomes, data entry, etc.).
- Identify and address family risk factors that give rise to possible re-arrest and incarceration due to continued referral behaviors or new risk/safety factors. This includes the completion of safety plans, court notifications, and incident reports if necessary.
- Maintains clear, concise and timely documentation of treatment efforts in progress notes and court reports that demonstrate compliance with Functional Family Therapy expectations and supervisory review feedback.
- Manages the extensive documentation requirements in all databases to successfully comply with mandates from agency, court and model.
- Identify community-based resources for families, collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders/providers (i.e., ACS, schools, doctors, mental health providers, courts, etc.) to monitor participation in services and accompany families to appointments if needed.
- Attend all court appearances with clients and provide an update on treatment to the court.
- Adopts a strength focused approach with families, stakeholders, and within the program/treatment team.
- Provides 24/7 coverage during the week and participates in weekend phone coverage for emergencies.

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related subject area.
Other Requirements:
**Depending on model and program, model manager will support in determining fit role.
Preferred Knowledge:
- 2-3 years of accumulated experience (internships through post-graduate) providing direct services to youth and their families in their homes and communities
- An understanding and commitment to complying with the New York State Central Register of Abuse and Neglect protocol (requirements to report any suspected abuse, maltreatment or neglect of any child).
- Experience with and willingness to work with culturally diverse population
- Experience in managing direct service providers who engage with the identified populations or similar population in high-risk court-involved youth either in Family Court or Adult Court, Child-Welfare programs.
- Direct use of pragmatic (i.e. structural, strategic, and functional) family therapies.
- Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the youth’s natural ecology that affect or influence the behavior of youth (i.e. family, peer, school, and neighborhood)
- Experience working with clients utilizing trauma informed and evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral techniques.
- Strong understanding and the ability to implement the following:
- Family safety planning
- Risk and Safety assessments
- Social skills assessment and intervention
- Crisis Management
- Incident Reporting
- Creating and following a Treatment Plan
