Job Description
The purpose of this position is to onboard an individual at an entry-level, providing training and development, with the ultimate goal of transitioning them into the role of a Lab Supervisor.
Schrader Pacific is an automotive parts manufacturer, located in Altavista, VA and we are seeking to add a full-time Entry LevelTest Tech/Test Engineer to our team. Schrader Pacific is a recognized world leader in high-quality fluid control devices for the OEM and industrial markets.
Schrader-Pacific is looking for a person who is self-motivated, proactive, and hands-on who takes initiative and thrives in a dynamic environment. This individual will actively participate in an engineering lab working with pressure testing and fluid flow testing devices. The ideal candidate possesses a strong sense of practical problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and grow.
This individual will be trained to function as a member of our Product Development Engineer team and will support testing for various projects from R&D to maintaining current products already in production. They will assist engineering by supporting current product testing and assisting Product Engineers in new test set-ups. Testing mostly consists of automotive components related to the fuel, oil, and air conditioning systems.
Job Requirements:
1. Ability to work with mechanisms as demonstrated by their previous work history of tinkering on vehicles, motorcycles, tractors, boat engines or other similar products.
2. Basic knowledge of computers with programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
3. Basic knowledge of tools in a mechanics toolbox such as wrenches, vice grips, channel locks, and torx drivers.
4. Excellent math and writing skills.
5. Willingness to learning something new.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
1. Experience working with pressure transducers, flowmeters, hydraulics, pneumatics, and environmental chambers.
2. Experience with power supplies, voltmeters, ohmmeters, and PLC’s.
3. Any experience with microcontrollers/microcomputers such as those produced by Adafruit, Raspberry pi, Arduino, etc.
4. Any experience with test lab software (LabView) or Computer-Aided Design (SolidWorks).
5. Bachelors/Associate Technical degree or equivalent.
6. Writing Test Reports and utilizing methods and practices in accordance with our lab manual and good practices.
