We are seeking a candidate with teaching and research expertise, and experience commensurate with a Term Assistant Professor of Computer Science in a university setting. A successful candidate must have the ability to work collaboratively on research and academic projects across disciplines with other faculty. Graduate-level training in Computer Science, computer engineering, or a closely related field is required, excellent writing and oral skills, and an ability to advise and work with diverse individuals and groups. An ability to be a public spokesperson for the program and the university, and the capacity to acquire funding and publish in peer-reviewed outlets in the field are desired.
Successful candidates must have demonstrated their ability to teach core computer engineering and Computer Science courses and upper-level undergraduate courses in one or more areas of specialization. Course development and curriculum development experience is preferred. Proficiency in several modern programming languages is preferred.
Length of time and type of experience required for this position should be appropriate to the rank of Term Assistant Professor. General background should be in a related field.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with all but degree at time of application may be considered with the requirement that the Doctorate must be awarded before August 2024.
Successful candidates must provide official transcripts documenting academic credentials required for the position as a condition of employment.
Qualifying earned degrees must be conferred either by institutions of higher education which are accredited by one of the six US regional accrediting associations or by an equivalent international institution of higher education as determined by UAA based on a review by a foreign educational credential evaluation service recognized by UAA.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage main campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is not a remote position. This is a full-time, 9-month, term funded, non-tenure track position with a two year appointment, complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package including tuition waivers for employees and family members, affordable medical, dental and vision coverage and representation under a Collective Bargaining Unit. Salary will be based upon applicable academic preparation and experience.
