As a temporary Senior Writer in the Fundraising Marketing Department at UJA-Federation of New York, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and executing compelling narratives that resonate with our supporters and drive fundraising initiatives. We're seeking a seasoned and creative writer with a deep understanding of the Jewish community and its values, and who has a passion for philanthropy and writing for mission-driven organizations.
Responsibilities include:
- Content Creation:
Develop impactful and persuasive written content for various fundraising materials, including campaign appeals, email campaigns, newsletters, brochures, and more. Tailor messaging to resonate with diverse audiences within the Jewish community. Implement storytelling techniques that evoke emotion and inspire action.
- Speechwriting:
Write speeches for lay leaders and key stakeholders that showcase the organization's mission and overarching goals while appealing to various audiences of donors.
- Editing and Proofreading:
Ensure all written materials adhere to the organization's brand guidelines and messaging strategy. Edit and proofread content to maintain high-quality standards and accuracy.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with graphic designers, marketing specialists, and other team members to create integrated and cohesive fundraising campaigns. Collaborate with other departments to gather information and insights for accurate representation in fundraising materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
- Proven experience as a writer in fundraising or marketing roles, preferably within the non-profit sector
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Ability to write in UJA's voice and adapt to different platforms and audiences
- Deep understanding of Jewish culture, traditions, and philanthropic values
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Knowledge of digital marketing and social media trends is a plus
