The Senior Systems Engineer is a key part of the Viasat Integrated Product Team and will have a significant impact shaping the design, development, and innovation of both the products and services that are key to Viasat's long term goals and strategies. In this role, you will have the chance to create and support new ground station antenna systems.
The day-to-day
You will be responsible for all system aspects of antenna design with a focus on mechanical and RF compatibility, manufacturability for mixed volumes, assembly, requirements verification (analysis and testing), design reviews, and productization. Your interdisciplinary background will be critical in understanding and evaluating the key technical design trades for the antenna system. You will have access to a team of dedicated engineers and designers to model designs and detail drawings.

Your previous electromechanical and RF experience will be extremely valuable in guiding the team towards a viable technical solution that meets the system and program requirements. There will be a focus on applying proper manufacturing and inspection techniques for a mid to high volume application to meet the quality and cost targets of the program.
Salary range
$161,500.00 - $280,800.00 / annually

What you'll need
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or Equivalent
- 15+ years of demonstrated experience in the Antenna Industry, with an emphasis on precision electro-mechanical, RF designs
- Proven track record of leading technical teams
- Proven track record of effective problem-solving methodology with appropriate application of testing and analysis
- Demonstrated understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Demonstrated experience in tooling design and inspection methods
- Demonstrated understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) trades and capabilities for precision parts
- Can work and communicate effectively with multi-functional teams, including other engineering fields, assembly personnel, and operations representatives
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- This is a hybrid/onsite role (typically three days in office)
- Travel up to 10%
- US Citizenship required
