Summary of Position:

Seeking a responsible Foam Pad Engineer to assist management with technical foam issues. Your work will be critical in ensuring the team meets its goals of efficiency and customer satisfaction. Our ideal candidate will possess a strong technical mindset. You should also be apt to organize and solve problems. Interpersonal and mediation skills will be very useful since you’ll often be acting as a point of contact between managers, employees, and customers.

The goal is to secure the effective operation of our business and the satisfaction of our customers.

Technical:

  • Assist the management and foam team in organizing, planning, and implementing strategy.
  • Coordinate technical projects and improvements.
  • Investigate technical issues related to foam.
  • Create reports, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Drive continuous improvement processes with materials and machines, utilizing improved processes and technology.
  • Develop foam process engineers’ technical ability.
  • Robot programming to optimize pour patterns.
  • Validate & continually improve lab results as it relate to static load, hardness, density, and dimension.
  • Secure adherence to the company’s policies and guidelines.

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 80 lbs. pounds on a regular basis.
  • Required to use close vision, peripheral vision, focus, and see colors as required to read equipment and material labels, color-coded inventory, computer terminal screens, etc.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel domestically in the US and/or internationally if needed.

The employee generally works in indoor office and warehouse environments.

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in polyurethane industry

Education:

  • Associate degree or higher in Applied Science or equivalent work experience

Technical Skills Required

  • Proven experience as a polyurethane foam engineer or similar position
  • Knowledge of oval track foam machines (Complete calibration of metering units/ Mix head components)
  • Knowledge of chemical blending & validation methods (PU foam)
  • Ability to coordinate/perform capability & correlation studies to validate equipment.
  • Knowledge of PU lab testing equipment & processes (Cup Shot/ Titration/ Force to crush/ ILD)
  • Proficient user of MS Office
  • Organizational abilities
  • Analytical mind with good math skills
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced problem-solving
  • Robotic programming
  • Blueprint reading
  • Electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills
