The City of Sunnyside currently has an opening for a Temporary Maintenance Worker in the Parks Division of the Public Works Department. This position works under the general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor to perform a variety of designated public works responsibilities such as the repair and maintenance of various electrical and mechanical systems, maintenance and repair activities for the City systems and facilities, operates light and heavy equipment, customer services and emergency response duties as needed.
Overview of Job Duties:
- Perform a variety of parks and building maintenance tasks such as mowing, landscape maintenance, spraying and facilities repair.
- Operates a variety of equipment including hand tools, backhoes, mowers, sprayers and related equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment to accomplish duties.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position you must have the following experience and education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- One (1) year previous experience in grounds maintenance or related field.
- Experience with various pieces of heavy equipment is preferred.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
