The City of Tukwila is seeking multiple, seasonal StreetMaintenance Workers to join our team.
The Public Works Department creates a foundation for high quality of life in Tukwila by protecting the health and safety of residents, visitors, and businesses. Most of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Occasionally they are required to respond to emergencies after hours in addition to their normal shift. They operate trucks, flatbeds, commercial vehicles, and specialized heavy equipment.These are seasonal/temporary positions and will not exceed 1040 hours in a 12-month period. Hours are expected to be 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday; however, hours could vary depending upon business needs.

Performs a variety of skilled activities in maintaining and repairing City infrastructures, to include roads, right of ways, and easements. Duties may include repairing road surfaces, shoulders; installing, and maintaining pavement markings.
Performs maintenance and safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems requiring skilled knowledge in order to determine need for repair and to identify problems.
Responds to inquiries, complaints, and service requests to include marking location of lines, graffiti, potholes, and right of way issues. Performs site maintenance activities such as applying pesticides; mowing, trimming, pruning, removing, and planting vegetation; painting; and litter control.
Directs and controls traffic, to include placing traffic cones and signs; flagging traffic; and closing lanes and streets.
Responds to emergency events and situations, to include snow, ice, power outages, and flooding.
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, mobility, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Minimum Qualifications: (A) Must possess a valid Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one prior to employment; (B) Must be a minimum of 18 years old; (C) Must be able to work with limited supervision.
Desired Qualifications: (A) Flagging Certification Card; (B) CPR/First Aid Card.
